Green building and sustainable design
Environmental Certifications

Sustainability and environmental concerns are increasingly becoming more apparent in both architecture and in the construction industry. This has increased the demand for environmental certifications, such as LEED, DGNB, and BREEAM. Achieving such certifications requires extensive consideration, including the choice of building materials.

Glassfibre reinforced concrete is a excellent choice of material, considering its long durability and the sustainability of the material. A key advantage of GRC is its 100+ lifespan and its weather resistance towards all kinds of weather.

When assessing the sustainability of materials, the production is an important factor. The production at BB fiberbeton is environmentally friendly without any toxic materials and the consumption of energy is low.

To make it even easier for you to calculate the environmental impact of our products, we have acquired an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) from March 2021. The EPD documents an assessment of the consumption of energy and resources as well as the environmental impact during the product’s life cycle.

Exciting mock-ups
Phosphorescent aggregates in GRC
For the last couple of months, we have worked with artist Anna Rosa Hiort-Lorenzen to realise her vision of creating interplay between dark and light. Anna Rosa is creating a new way of transforming light art by decorating concrete with beautiful phosphorescent nature motives. So far, the result of this collaboration has been several striking mock-ups with incredible yellow-green and blue-green phosphorescent exposed aggregates.

GRC facade elements
On site at Toves Gaard

Recently, we visited the site of Toves Gaard where the finishing touches are being made. The project is in one of the traditional bridge quarters of Copenhagen, Vesterbro.

Toves Gaard is named after iconic Danish author and poet Tove Ditlevsen. The tenements consist of 100 new apartments.

Architects from entasis were conscious of respecting the original architectural style of the area while also creating a more modern design. We manufactured GRC parapets, sills, and facade accent bands for the external facade. All elements are 12 mm with a matt grey surface.

We look forward to seeing the result soon!
